New Meta Classes

The Strategy Management Pack introduces the following, new meta classes:

• Roadmap Models (including Roadmap Milestone, Timeline Point). Define graphical models that define how the organisation will move from one Architecture State to another.
• Taxonomy. User defined taxonomies can be created to classify any element in the repository according to the terms defined for each taxonomy.
• Time. Three new meta classes to define instances of Time using different levels of granularity in a format-independent way. Instances of dates and time can be represented as Year, a Quarter or a Gregorian date. A core_date_time.xsl stylesheet can be easily tailored to format Gregorian dates to meet your requirements.

Updated Meta Classes

The following meta classes have been updated by this pack:

• Strategic Plan. Auto-naming of Strategic Plans is removed and plans can now apply to multiple elements - now including relationship classes. New relationships to the objectives that are met by the plan and the projects that will implement the plan are available. New date slots to use the new Time class replace the string-based date slots and the update pack migrates existing dates to deprecated slots.
• Architecture State. Revised approach to architecture states that group elements from the '12 boxes' plus relationship classes. New date slots that use the new Time class replace the string-based dates. Existing Architecture State instances are migrated by this pack, with existing dates migrated to deprecated slots.
• Project. New date slots that use the Time class are implemented and existing instances are migrated.
• Programme. New date slots that use the Time class are implemented and existing instances are migrated.
• Project Activity. New date slots that use the Time class are implemented and existing instances are migrated.
• Actor. A new slot to identify and manage the objectives for an Actor (Group or Individual) are provided.
• Business Objective, Information Architecture Objective, Application Architecture Objective, Technology Architecture Objective. New slot to capture the Strategic Plans that support the objective.
• EA Class (all core meta model classes). A new slot to manage the Taxonomical classification of any instance is provided, along with a Supersedes Version slot to define a relationship to a previous version of an element in the model.

Views

Basic Views for Roadmaps and Strategic Plans are included in this pack. These can be easily tailored to provide additional features and aspects to meet your View requirements.

• roadmap_view.xsl. A basic view for a selected Roadmap that provides a view of the overall roadmap as it is defined in the repository, details of each Milestone in the Roadmap and links to the Strategic Plans that transition between Milestones.
• roadmaps_catalogue.xsl. A simple alphabetical catalogue of all the Roadmaps in the repository. Clicking through shows the Roadmap View (see above) for the selected RoadMap.
• core_date_time.xsl. A set of helper templates for rendering Time instances.
• app_tech_plat_alignment.xsl. A view that provides a report of the alignment of the technology architecture of the selected Application Provider to the technology strategy.
• app_tech_alignment_catalogue.xsl. A basic alphabetical catalogue of Application Providers. Clicking through shows the strategic technology alignment report for the selected Application Provider.

In addition, a number of core Views have been updated.

• core_utilities.xsl. A new helper template for rendering links in views is provided.
• core_footer.xsl. The timestamp from when the Viewer repository snapshot was taken is rendered in the footer.
• core_strategy_plan_def.xsl. Updated to include the Objectives and Principles that are relevant to the Strategic Plan. Also updated to render EA Relation instances to which the plan applies.
• core_strategic_plans.xsl. Updated to render EA Relation instances to which the plan applies.
