ECP-7 Sample Ontology Download

Description:

Sample ontology to demonstrate the proposed meta model extension for ECP-7

This ECP introduces a mechanism for relating Actors (Group or Individual) to the Objectives that they have. These can be business, information, application or technology objectives. The objectives can be shared by Actors and to aid searching a selecting the desired objective, they are classified by a Taxonomy, and appear on Protege forms with a name that is fully qualified by the assigned taxonomy term. The relationship between the Actor and Objective is made from the Actor that has that objective. It is recommended practice to search for pre-existing objectives before defining a new one.

This ECP also introduces the Taxonomies and Taxonomy Term meta classes to enable user-defined taxonomies to be managed. To create a taxonomy, create an Instance of Taxonomies and add Instances of the Terms for that taxonomy. A hierarchy for these terms can be defined and managed but it is important to note that the taxonomies should NOT be used to define semantics, merely classification to aid searching/management of large numbers of instances of a particular meta class.

Finally, any Instance in the meta model can be classified by zero or more taxonomy terms.
